Who wouldn’t like being welcomed to a party with a champagne & caviar tasting? Two of my favorite things in one place! This one was for a small birthday celebration that we catered last fall. I’m obsessed with this Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve. We brought it onto the list last year and everyone loves it. It is full and rich with a nice minerality.
Spring is in the air and that means it is wedding and event planning season for me. Here is a fun cocktail hour idea that i’ve been incorporating into events. In addition to a wine tasting, have a local beer tasting table. We took Dogfish Head beer tap handles and some chalkboard contact paper and created a display. Guests loved having the opportunity to try so many different brews!
About a month ago, we had the pleasure of catering the wedding of Jim & Lou. After a beach ceremony, the party moved back to their house. We had fun doing the menu for them…house made charcuterie and blocks of cheese, a guacamole bar and tons of passed hors d’s. The fact that the weather was perfect just sweetened the day for these two great guys!
We always know when fall has truly arrived when it is time for Tasting Tuesday again. 3 courses with wine pairings for $40! It is a great deal but it is also really fun for us. Each week gives us a chance to showcase new menu items and new wines. Sometimes I choose the wines first and then Lion decides on the dishes. Other times, like this week, Lion does the menu and we choose the wines to match each dish. It is a new challenge every week and we hope it is as exciting for our customers as it is for us…

Local sweet corn, home grown baby heirloom tomatoes, spicy herbed olive oil & decandent mozzarella burrata. A sprinkle of sea salt. Seriously delicious. I wish that I could freeze this dish today and eat it in the dead of winter when I crave these summer flavors.
