Lion and Meghan Gardner, and Tim Ragan and Randy Haney share a long-term commitment to the Blue Moon, starting out as loyal customers and staff members before making their dream of ownership a reality.
Built in 1907 as a Sears Craftsman house, the Blue Moon served as a gracious private residence until 1981, when it was transformed into a unique dining environment. The families’ commitment to the legacy and character of the Blue Moon ensures that its three-decade tradition of excellence will continue for years to come.

As Executive Chef, Lion is a food artist who excels in both preparation and presentation. Born and raised just outside of Philadelphia in the small town of Wawa, PA, he began working in kitchens to earn his way through high school and college. Lion attended the University of Delaware for both undergraduate and graduate school, receiving his Master’s Degree in mass media studies in 2002.
Lion first came to Rehoboth in 1997, spending subsequent summers working as a sous chef at Eden. He was instrumental in the debut of Taste in 2003, where he held his first head chef position before moving on to open Fins Fish House and Raw Bar on Rehoboth Avenue. Lion then returned to Eden as Executive Chef until he transferred to the Blue Moon in the fall of 2006. He has lived in Prague, Czech Republic, and traveled extensively in Europe, South America and the United States. Lion's dynamic food creations are inspired by his love for travel and appreciation for fine cuisine throughout the world.
Meg’s organizational talent and love for people make her the ideal leader for the Blue Moon’s comprehensive, personalized catering service. After one meeting with Meg, clients become friends, knowing immediately that their occasion will be handled with tender loving care.
In addition to catering, Meg carefully selects each wine offered at the Blue Moon, creating unique pairings that enhance the dining experience. In addition, the Blue Moon is proud to support local artists by displaying their work in various rooms throughout the historic venue. Artists who are interested in featuring their pieces at the Blue Moon are invited to contact Meg.
Meg is a Delaware native who has been a member of the Blue Moon family since 2002. She grew up in Wilmington, Delaware before receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Religion from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Meg spent several months in Prague, Czech Republic, where she taught English. Her love for people and cultures expanded as she enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, South America and right here at home, in the USA.
In addition to overseeing all advertising and promotional responsibilities, Tim books the talent and manages the extraordinary entertainment scene that defines the Blue Moon. Popular entertainers have come to know and respect Tim for his professionalism and friendly service. In fact, Tim’s organizational expertise, down-to-earth style, and winning ways with people have made the difference in establishing the Blue Moon as the quintessential entertainment venue in Rehoboth.
Tim graduated from nearby Salisbury University and enjoyed vacationing in Rehoboth Beach for several years before finally making this his full-time home.
Every successful business needs a numbers wizard and, at the Blue Moon, that man is Randy. While Lion, Meg and Tim create dining and entertainment masterpieces, Randy works his numeric magic to ensure that customers receive an exceptional experience at the best possible value. Earning a degree in Business Administration from Salisbury University with a concentration in Accounting, Randy is well-prepared for his controller role.
After the numbers have been crunched, Randy can often be found assisting with DJ duties and providing a friendly greeting for Blue Moon guests. At home, he stays busy with four dogs – Millie, Dexter, Molly and Jackson – while Abby the cat supervises.
